From their website: www.dominionraceway.com
Dominion Raceway located in Thornburg, Virginia represents a new model for Motorsports facility’s and Entertainment venues.
Unlike conventional Motorsports locations that are more rural, Dominion Raceway is located on Interstate I-95 with almost (1) mile of Interstate road frontage and convenient interstate ramp access. Dominion Raceway breaks the old traditional model of purchasing land in rural undeveloped area’s and trying to drive racers, fans and sponsors to that remote location. Dominion Raceway’s highly visible location reduces advertising costs and serves as a constant visual reminder to the 109,000 cars that pass by and see it each and every day.
Thornburg Virginia is central too; it is within 50 miles of the Nation’s Capital (Wash D.C.) and 50 miles of Richmond, Virginia the State Capital of Virginia as well as many localities in Maryland. Literally within a travel period of 1hour you can reach three large metropolitan markets, where millions reside along with some of the highest family and per capita income in the Country today.
In addition to a highly visible location Dominion Raceway offers three distinct and separate Motorsports venues; a 4/10 mile NASCAR sanctioned oval, a 1/8 mile NHRA sanctioned drag strip and a 2 mile SCCA/NASA/Pro-Motion Club sanctioned Road Course.
So, I booble'd this from my humble abode in West Chester, PA. It is a mere 3 hours and 21 minutes or 191 miles. About 30 miles further than Summit Point. Maybe this could be in our collective RTR future?
They even have two, count'em two helipads! We can say goodbye to the petty bickering and those endless rock paper scissors games to decide who gets to land their helicopter first. What a great country, this America!
