Last Friday I took the PCA instructor training class that Pete Tremper taught at Lightning. My mentor was Mike Dion (Chief Instructor of DelVal BMW and a very capable Porsche driver) and then on the weekend I had my first student, an older Boxster driver getting back into track driving after a few decades off for family, college tuition and the like.

The short of it is that instructing is much more challenging and tiring than I anticipated. Particularly with Mike in the car doing some weird stuff it was very hard to keep ahead of him and direct him around the track. It was altogether exhausting, but I learned a lot too. Clearly worthwhile.

So a big THANKS to the many instructors I have had over the years, particularly those I had early on and especially when I was one of two students they had. A special thank you to Ken who had me for my first event ever and was brave enough to jump in a GT3 with a first time track driver.
