[size="1"]I put in about an hour a day on the Nurburging in Gran Turismo 4 in the months leading up to going there. I think it helped me get a good idea of where the track was going so when I got there I could spend more effort on being good at it vs learning where everything is.[/size]

The old logitech wheel is way better than the XBOX one. The force feedback is more realistic (though this could just be GT4's programming vs forza's) and it has 900 degrees of rotation instead of the 200ish that the XBOX one has.
