Steve, for the answers:
1. I'd recommend a small digital video camera rather than a digital camera that takes video. If you have an old sony handy cam, that would work. You would need to convert the vhs (most likely) to digital
2. for autocross, I'm not sure what the PCA or SCCA regs say about mounting aparatus.
3. to edit the video, I use window movie maker. It captures the video and makes segments that can be selected to create a movie.
