Lou, I'm inclined to agree -- but, heck, what do I know? -- with you about the setup we're discussing being rules compliant, because they both meet the same SFI standard. I don't know if you're joking about the possibility of an instructor/passenger wearing a HANS when the driver didn't have one. I'm guessing that the point of the rule is that the instructor/passenger not have something inferior to the student/driver (and, technically, a HANS device might not count as a "restraint" mentioned in the rule -- but, again, I certainly could be wrong about that).
