I won't bother replying to you after this post.... you posted a remark right after Chris spent considerable time and effort to clarify the Bylaws of my club. So, yes, you implied by association you feelings, as both Chris and Larry are attorneys (as are a number of members of RTR).

Or, do I read your intent incorrectly, and you only want to up your post count?

BTW...are you a member of PCA-RTR?

Chris, thank you for your time, expertise and hard work on this project.

I think that Dave does not  have a problem with Chris, but rather the system that is in place that required us to update our bylaws.

Our great Country will not be defeated by the Communists, Socialists, Muslim Extremists, or Terrorists.  Our Country will be defeated by the legal profession.  One day we will awaken to a country with out an industrial base, infrastructure, commercial enterprise, a strong military, ingenuity, invention and an effective government.  Why?  Because the legal profession has and is making it more expensive to conduct business.  Increasingly complex laws and regulations plus the risk of litigation has and is making progress in these areas cost prohibitive.

Our Country declared our independence of one sheet of paper, and formed our current government on four hand written pages.  How many pages would it take today, if we were to start from scratch?

Chris, is not the problem.  He is just a cog working within the problem.

My solution, create a colony on the moon, where we will send all the lawyers.  This colony will only be inhabited by lawyers.  We will provide them with all of the needed supplies for them to live and instruct them to create for us a comprehensive system of government, laws and regulations.  A simple majority vote will be required to pass any idea, resolution, law, regulations etc.  They will not be permitted to return until this task is completed.

Well I'll jump in -- and apologize, for unintentionally escalating the tone of this thread.

Did I interpret "dmano"'s comment about lawyers as a personal criticism of Chris?  Absolutely not.  (And certainly not anything aimed at me.)  I think it should fairly be regarded, in the context of the informal commenting style on this site generally, and in view of the actual wording of his brief comment, as a sweeping generalization/observation/criticism of how often something unconstructive results from lawyers' efforts.  And, frankly, I'm in agreement with that.  So in a sense I may have appeared to overreact, intending to be somewhat informal myself, by jumping to Chris' defense, especially since I have some idea, through private exchanges, of how much good, hard work he has done even on this one voting issue.  (And, for the record, he's a far more able lawyer than I'll ever be, and needs no one else to defend him.  I suspect he is calmly standing on the sidelines, maybe even amused by the ensuing postings, and I seroiusly doubt he felt personally offended.)

So, gentlemen: Let's all take deep breaths, agree that there's a lot to condemn about lots of lawyers and our legal system, and move on without taking any of this personally.

Thanks Larry, I have no gripe with you or Chris you both are an incredible asset to the club, so people just need to lighten up and look betwwen the lines of the many comments made on the forum.

Can we vote on that.  Or do we need a lawyer to write up the rules and regulations on how to say yes or no. Tongue

Why can't it be that easy.

I am a Mason and we vote on all lodge business that way. Your are either in or out..... Done with a white ball or a black ball. No legal words/ crap needed.  We all know what it means to be black balled. It truly is that easy to vote on things.

If we took .5% from all lawyer's fees, we could have a new NASA in place to pay for and build that lunar law office for them. Not all lawyers are bad. Just the fees are way to high.

So, besides lawyer-bashing, what other WORDS OF WISDOM can the self-proclaimed Off Topic King offer us in this thread devoted to absentee ballots?
