Called Allstate... they are sending a repair guy to try to fix the crack... otherwise I have to pay the deductible for a new windshield...  Coming on Saturday.... will keep you all posted...

and YES it was on the NE Extension... following behind Landstra in his pickup.

Awesome news Lainey!

Can't wait for Lightning either....

While we are on the subject, has anyone tried any windshield protectant films?  I'm curious as to whether they actually help, cost, and experiences with installation etc.

We went with the 4 layer tearoff from Cole Motorsports, I installed it on the GT3 Cup, it was $275. They make 1, 2 and 4 layer tearoffs for 911, 944, 996 and several other kinds of sportscar applications... check out the installation video on the same page. Works great so far, will pull off 1st layer of the stack soon....

Eric-

I had one on my GT3. It was a 2-layer peel back style. So, when the first layer gets too boogered up, peel it off and you have a new skin over the glass!!

Reasonably priced, I think around $150. You'll never get all the tiny bubbles out when installing, but it's a non-issue on the track. You'll make a squirt bottle solution of water, few drops of dishwashing liquid and 20% alcohol. Start the installation from the middle, then begin to squeegee it on to the drivers side first. Works like a charm. Good luck!
