Where are the mandatory rules posted for using jack stands, etc.?

1) Handle all firearms as if they were loaded
2) Never point a firearm at something you are not willing to destroy
3) Know your target and what is beyond it (over-penetration or miss)
4) Finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire

That's what I've heard, anyway... =)

If we're sharing horror stories, a friend of a friend was doing something (brakes maybe, not sure), and his jack gave out or got knocked and sliped...

FINGER PINCHED in the front springs... No one home, he was stuck for a few hours, in considerable pain, yelling, no one could hear him.... kept the finger but still...

The original question was whether any such rules were written down somewhere that members could access them.

(The original question was not whether jack stands should be used -- which seems to be what you're implying.)

It is a Club rule to use jack stands, and many tracks have rules that a board must be placed under the jack stands, but I have only seen the track "use a board" rule in writing. I have seen Club officers and membes walk through the paddock and encourage (require?) the use of jack stands. It's a good thing. There are always stands available to borrow!

As your newly appointed "safety chair" I will be the one wandering the paddock looking for offenders.

If a wheel is off the ground, the car should be supported by a jack stand. One stand for each wheel off the ground.  Why?  Because accidents happen, and this type is completely preventable with minimal effort and inconvenience.
