Larry, what't the main difference between the Optima yellow and red?  do both need modifications to the battery holder?  Also, how are they better than the OEM, Diehard, etc.

I'm an Optima man. I use one in the 356 (12v) and no need over the winter for a charger and I use one in the 993 also.

I just replaced my original battery last year. I bought mine from an Interstate Store locally. It had a scratch on the case so they charged me only half price for it. It's a Megatron Plus with an 85 month warranty.

Auto Zone - $59.99 for the "International".  Lasts as long as everything else and is cheap.

For a car that is driven infrequently it seems a gell cell out performs a standard wet cell battery at holding its charge.  Had one put in my track car and it starts after sitting for 4 or 5 weeks.

The Red top is their regular car battery, while the Yellow top is for deep cycle applications (generally, boats - but it is also great for a lot of times where you need to bring the battery back from the dead)

The ONE great benefit of the Optima is it is a GEL Pack! No acid spillage, Right DE guys!

the problem is installation into the Porsche's.  BTW, I was at Sam's Club today and they sell the Red top for $136 and the Yellow for $166

The catch is the Optima that is easiest to fit has "reversed" poles (the positive and the negative poles are opposite the "regular" way). That battery is pretty hard to find on the shelf.
