You're right Joe, from a naturally abundant resource (coal), diesel is an answer. But diesel fuel prices being what they are makes it a tough economic sell to the average consumer. I also considered the ML350 Blue TEC.....MB's "Clean Diesel" SUV....$4,000 more than a standard ML350 (you are also eligible for a $900 tax credit), but the MPG only increased to 18/25. HP was 210 and MB must be too ashamed to publish a 0-60 time because I couldn't find one.
Call me the anti-Kermit....because, at this point, being green just isn't swaying my car purchasing decisions.
