Don't be bummed, the exact same thing happened to me a couple of months after I started driving the car, and it was (relatively) minor. The gearbox apparently has plastic separators called "shift coupler bushings", and they can break and block the shifter gate, preventing the gear shift from dropping into the gear. I lost second as well and was freaking out a little, but Mark Burket at Specialty Cars was able to replace them without difficulty. To get the parts and have them installed was about $275.

You should be back up and running quickly. Check with Specialty Cars if you need parts or want to have him do it.
