We have a customer who has NJ FOP tags on his supercharged 996.  He recently confessed to being pulled over doing 120 on the NJ Turnpike.  Slow it down buddy was all he got.  Those plates are "priceless"

Every time I see diplomatic plates, I just want to smash the car with a sledgehammer. How dare those rude foreigners make a mockery of our laws.  It is politics at their worst!  I say we ship these foreign political lackeys all back home.  Either that, or just allow those folks with those tags to be beaten with billy clubs for even the slightest infraction!

... and of course out guys would never do that in their countries. Wink

Diplomatic plate abuse is a constant across the world and not restricted to any nation.

Note that it now costs money, and not a small amount, to drive into central London. US diplomats refuse to pay the levies.

I wasn't singling out anyone in my rant.  I just don't like blatant displays of inequality.  Especially when our employees(politicians) begin acting like they are running the show.  They work for us. They are not above the law.

Actually, Chris, the whole point of diplomatic immunity is to make the diplomat above the law. Think how hard it would be without immunity to get people to take diplomatic posts in contries where the laws are very different or where they may well be applied aggressivley against the diplomat because he or she is a foreigner. Not collecting parking or speeding tickets is the smallest cost of fostering diplomacy.

Or resentment on the part of those citizens following the law. And what have diplomats done for me lately, other than collect their salaries off the back of the working man.

Good argument on your end, but still no sale.

Compare those salaries to the cost of a needless war. Penny wise, pound foolish.

Well I have a conclusion to my saga.  I paid the lawyer his $100, he or one of his associates represented me in court.  The judge did not throw my case out but agreed to withhold adjudication and just charge me court costs.   Well that is ok with me as pityful as it may be since that means no points.  I could not have flown down and represented myself for what it cost.  So the dick head cop nailed me for $210.50 plus the lawyer at $100.  I wonder if the local paper will print a pissed off tourist letter?
