Summit Point in Aug

Yes George, it was nice, had a good time on Sat afternoon. My little track buddy & I stayed until your last session on Sat. We were down at the big tree for turn 8. She even recognized your car when you went by us. She started to cry a little when we were leaving the gates because she said "Daddy, I want to see more race cars". You just gotta love it when they're on your side.

Mike, that is just incredible.  You've got a very special little girl.  I'll post one of my videos from last weekend at Summit Point  (maybe tonight) and she can see what it's like going down the track!

Now I have never met George, but I'll bet he will wish he still had his WRX if Summit is really ripped up.

Then he and James could go out and have a WRC shootout!

George, don't be a hero in the rough.  Looks like you ave a beautiful new car.

To say that Summit is torn up is over stating the track condition.  2 turns have gotten bumpy (washboard) but this does not make the track unsafe or unpleasent to drive.  Slow down a little for those turns or change your line to address this and have fun. Track conditions change but its all part of the sport.

As I told a close collegue of mine today....

I like Summit Point in spite of its shortfalls.  Always did.  Maybe because it was my first track.  Don't know why, but I click with it.  It has rhythm and one of the best straights around.

No, it's not the Glen, but much better than Pocono.  I like Summit Point so much, I'd drive it even if it were gravel ~~ !!!       Well. . . you get the point.

Tracks change.  Rain washes off the rubber.  Surfaces change.  Even the Glen is different this year from last.  Part of the skill of driving on a track is to recognize these changes and adjust.  I have yet to drive on a track that I did not enjoy myself and grow my skills.

George, I was thinking about that wheel incident. When John came back to the pits on the tow truck his front wheels were both on. I remember him telling us that his front wheel came off at the hub so if that was the case how did his wheel bolt back onto the front. Is it possible that the wheel lugs were not torqued and they flew off while he was out there. I've ridden with him, he's very fast but he's also at times in a hurry.

Mike... I don't know. I heard a few different scenarios. The rotors were not correct and lug length changed, lugs not tightened, different brakes, etc. But you make a good point . . . the wheel was back on when they towed it in ! hock:
