I think my 997 turbo is mad at me for tracking the R8....

Car has 2500 miles and I brought her in due to a new tapping noise I heard this week.  Turns out a cam lifter is shot and the motor is now partially disassembled....

Pretty cool to see the internals and just how much is packed in there!  Nonetheless I'm a bit bummed to have this problem on a new car.  Anyone else out there with 997 engine issues?

I should mention I've already had to replace the amplifier, and the paint from the chin spoiler is peeling off already just from driving in rain.  Never had any concerns with my '07 997 tt.  Porsche quality slipping?

Eric,

I didn't know you upgraded to an '09 TT.  Too bad about the valve lifter problem.  No problems here, the TT runs like a top.

As for the chin spoiler paint, I guess you know that Porsche is now using water-soluble paintBig Grin

Hope to see you at the Glen, with new radiator and all

Ken,

Glad to hear you're back in business and looking forward to seeing everyone again at the Glen.  I had been toying with the idea of taking the TT out for this event but won't be able to as I'll need to go easy on her (again) to break everything in.

What was the extent of the damage to the GT3?

Those water droplets turn into sandblasting pellets if you drive fast enough! I bought a replacement black spoiler for now, the other will likely be in the garage once repainted.  I have to see if they have some sort of clear bra coverage for that part otherwise it makes no sense to use it.

Happy fourth!
