Looks like I'll need a new battery for my GT3 before Summit Point. Any 996 owners our there with a suggestion for what to get where, assuming my dealer does not consider it a warranty item?

Chris, how do you know that you will need a new battery in 10 days?

I'd say to simply replace the oem battery or the optima gel battery that seems to be getting more popular with racing/de.

Well, I need a new battery now, but I won't be able to get a new one until next week.

Anyone have local sources to suggest?

the usual suspects:

Dougherty's, Brandywine, Performance, Tillson's, etc.

Brandywine will sell you an Interstate battery because the Porsche batteries are not so good.  They give a fair deal, but I just got mine from the shop around the corner.

Do you happen to know the model number for the Interstate battery?

Is it true that the Optima needs an adaptor to fit in the 996? What is the weight of the optima? is there a ampage difference with the Interstaate battery?

My OEM battery died and needs replacing tomorrow. It will not hold a charge very well, so is beyond rescue, so any help that I can get this evening will help me when I go out and buy a replacement tomorrow.

Thanks in advance!

I ended up going with the Bosch Premium Plus battery from Pep Boys.

I've had good experience with them in the past and they get good reviews. It was also a nice surprise to feel that it weighs less than the OEM battery. Smile

I'm taking the easy route & having Dougherty put in a yellow top (deep cycle) Optima before we take the car to Daytona.

Steve,

Nothing wrong with being online this late......  We're just killing a little time before the F1 race Big Grin

Or in your case... watching qualifing.
