It is my understanding that removable hard tops are permitted although I don't know why since you might as well be protected by an egg shell. I would not drive a convertible at a DE without roll bar protection.
Interestingly, at Lightning earlier this year, I saw a few convertibles without roll bars or hard tops. I specifically recall a Nissan 350Z. I realize that new convertibles have pop up roll bars that activate if the car rolls, but I was under the impression that this was not acceptable for DE.
Kerbeck currently has a 2005 Corvette convertible with Z-51 package for less than $26K. I would consider purchasing if it were not a convertible.
