Has any one had any history with lightweight Batteries, Braille or other brands, in a 997?
Which models and  mounts? I am looking for the proper weight to voltage choice.  The car is now used primarily on the track. I have the ability to keep the car on a battery tender between events and the car is trailer-ed to events. I also carry a jump start box.
 Thanks

I bought this Rennline kit, which I'm now selling.  The kit is nice but I relocated the battery to the floor of the trunk to get the weight a little lower.  It's in new condition.

I'll sell it for $75 if you're interested.

I'm using the same battery in my car that fits into this mount.  It goes dead after events pretty quickly, which is annoying, but if you keep it on a tender it would be fine.

The battery is another $125 and terminals are another $13:

Thanks Darren,
This mount will not accommodate a Battery that is large enough in voltage capacity. I appreciate the offer as it is an excellent price.

Yeah it's for a track-only car.

Thanks again, Why not put the mount on the For Sale Forum, as i noted the price your asking is a good deal for some one.

Your in a tough situation because the lightweight works great as Darren will attest, but pretty much for a race prepped car.  I have a Braile and it has gone dead a couple of times from small loads on it.  You pretty much have to hit the kill switch when you get out of the car to avoid it draining.  I assume your car still has interior, climate controls, power options, etc.   If you looking to take weight out of the car, there are a bunch of options, but it will become difficult to reverse the modifications back to stock.

Thanks for the feedback. Which Braille are you using? They have a 21lb, 18lb and 17lb that have pretty good AMP ratings. The 21lb has some "all purpose" characteristics. I know 21lb might not seem lightweight to some; it still shave close to 20lbs off the battery weight.  I do not use my AC, radio or other heavy electronic loads at the track. I trailer with a SUV with trickle charger and jump box.
At this time I do not want to start ripping out the carpet and door panels; however the battery, back seats, NAV DVD player , trunk junk etc coil;d save me some weight.

I have an odyssey 680.  Works fine... had one in both of my 993s.  However, you should factor in the weight of the mount when you tabulate your actual weight savings.  Also, longevity of the battery is not great (about 2 years in my experience)

There is a write up on rennlist about lightweight lithium-ion car batteries.  Do a search, on it using lithium.  Anyway, these batteries weighs about 5.5 lb and cost $1300.

I am using a Braille B-106 with a modified Rennline mount in my 86 3.2 911....with no problems . By the way it only weighs 6.6 pounds!
