I know this topic has been discussed in the past and I'm sorry for bringing it back to life.  Is there a company that will provide track insurance for just a single track (DE) event, as opposed to having to purchase a 10-event minimum?  Many thanks.

Dan,

The Link Brian provided is THE BEST for single event DE i have seen - def recomend those guys.

If you ever want to talk about DE insurance for the full season (that costs a lot less than these per event plans) give me a holler.  This is right in my sweet spot Cool

FWIW, Ace insurance still does not exclude DE from normal coverage.  I moved to them over this issue.

I have WSIB for yearly DE insurance. I purchase a policy with up to 16 events per year.

Sorry, I was imprecise.  The coverage is actually issued by Bankers Standard Insurance Company, one of ACE's US companies.

Please don't be asking so many questions that they decide to add an exclusion.  But I have as recently as 6 months ago had my broker directly ask the underwriter they deal with and reviewed the policy language.  I don't have policy language in front of me but you are OK if not racing or timed event... Saw a car trashed at Monticello a month ago and ACE (Bankers) paid claimant within days.

Updated - found my broker's quote of the underwriter's response to the question of on track coverage:

"With regard to the Porsche, the automobile policy will not pay for loss to a vehicle that occurs while it is taking part in, or practicing for, a speed contest. It also will not pay for any bodily injury, property damage or medical expenses arising out of the a vehicle accident that occurs while taking part in or practicing for a speed contest. That all being said, if Bob is on a race track with the Porsche, but is not taking part in, or practicing for, a speed contest, that his automobile coverage will apply."

We are careful to maintain that DE is not a speed contest or practice for a speed contest, so personally  I am comfortable with this language.  The fact that they paid promptly following the Monticello accident would seem to confirm this.

My understanding from friends in that business is that, yes, your normal policy would probably cover that type of loss....ONCE.  HOWEVER, expect to be NON-RENEWED (isn't that a cute euphemism for CANCELLED) when your renewal date comes up.  Once your cancelled with one carrier for cause, it apparently becomes increasingly difficult ($$$) to find another carrier who will insure you.
