Looking at either buying a scissor lift or a MaxJax lift for home use to make brake work, oil changes, etc. a little easier on my back and a little safer than jack stands. (Yes, Jim, I am actually starting to get my hands dirty.)

Recommendations? Pros/cons? I would love to see a couple of applications in person if possible.

Bought my scissors lift a few years ago from the RTR "Vendor Night". Can't remember the name, but he's a neighbor of Larry Herman. Also, "Greg Smith Co." in Newark, DE sells them.

Lou, do you know the name of your manufacturer?  I was looking at BendPak scissor lifts or Dannmar's MaxJax two post.

I assume you've been trouble-free?

Local contact is Callahan. Here's the spec on the one that I have.

http://www.proseriesequipment.com/produc...-tcpl6.php

As I stated, Greg Smith Company in Newark looks to have a good deal, and if you can pick-up the unit, you will save a lot in shipping (it weighs over  1200#).

And, not one bit of problems with the one that I have.

I've got a Bendpak lift. Purchased from Northern Tool about 2 years ago. The thing is  awesome.  I lift the car up to add air to the tires...  Yes, it will make you that lazy... it's a beautiful thing. I can't believe I actually used to crawl down on the floor to get under the car... how barbaric.

Back when I bought it, Northern Tool was offering free shipping, and I also purchased a warranty for "in house" service in case of any issues for I think 2 or 3 years.

Any issues with home delivery? You can still get the BendPak (and several other manufacturers) with free delivery, but they indicate that when they deliver to your home, the driver will NOT offload the lift; I would need to get it off the truck.

Also, did you get the mid or low rise? Was the clearance low enough to get the swing arms under your car?

No problem with home delivery... I don't remember the details, but believe I paid a bit extra (like $50) for lift-gate service.  Guy dropped it in front of my garage on a pallet and then I tipped the guy a few bucks to push it inside with his hand truck.  My car is pretty low, I had to build ramps (you can see one of them in the photo). I got the mid-rise (I believe 48" max lift)
