Getting ready for NJMP, what to take

I've never been to NJMP and this Friday I will be up there for the first time so I don't know what it's like there or what is there in the way of the facility. Is there shade from the trees in the paddock like Slummit or is it open parking lot like Laguna Seca?

All black top and exposed Mike. Bring a pop up tent to get out of the sun. You cannot nail into the black top so you need ballast to tie down the tent. Chairs, air tank, red gas containers (no others are legal). Cooler. Lot's of water. Bring a bike if you can to get around the paddock. I should have you some notes for the track by tomorrow evening.

Thanks. I will be driving up and I was debating as to whether or not to pack my tent into my car. Everything else I am good with.

have fun mike. it is always good to experience new tracks but always remember you are driving the car (not the track) and rely on your car control skills. you will do a fine job. i'd ride with you anytime. oh, and yes, bring shade!

Mike, if it will be as hot as today, forget the tent and share a room with someone. It will cost you around $35.00 per nite..... good shower and continental breakfast, and of course, air conditioning. Some guys are in love with their car, so they have to sleep with it at the track. Are you one of them?

I just wanted to add that Lightning is black top but Thunderbolt has plenty of grass/dirt (kind of like VIR). I'm pretty sure you can put your tents up on the dirt part of Thunderbolt lot.

Which one are you going to? Both?

I think the tent is for daytime cover not for sleepy time. Rooms are cheap and available.

Thank you for the compliment Tony, I would not have gotten to this point without your tutoring.

Since I am driving up on Friday morning and playing all day I ended making a reservation at one of the hotels to come home on Saturday morning. NJMP is definitely not the 40 min car ride to my house like SPR is.

Ah, I didn't realize that's what he was asking or that's what you meant. Yes, not a good idea to sleep in the paddock.
