Towing and EZPass

When you are towing your car to the track, can you use the EZPass lane? Will it correctly count the number of axles?

I looked this up on the internet and got conflicting answers. Some say it will work, other say you will get a ticket.

I did see that you have to add your trailer's license plate to the EZPass. I haven't done that yet.

Once you add the trailer license plate you can use EZPass every where. The only restriction I have bumped into towing is some lanes say no vehicles with gross weight over 5 tons and my rig and trailer are over 5 tons. But there are additional lanes at those locations without restrictions. If memory serves me right I have seen this in Maryland and Virginia

I never added my trailer plate to my account but have not had any trouble so far.

After years of not having the trailer plate on the account I got fined when the ezpass did not register and the camera took a pic of the trailer tag. This was on the Commodore Barry Bridge. Had to pay the fine since the tag was not registered.

Haven't registered the Trailex plate and I've used EZPass for 2+ years without any issues.

It only takes one Ezpass failure and they got u. Take the time to register it online.

Here's my trailer ignorance....I didn't know it even mattered.

Do I get a separate transponder for the trailer, too? Or do I just add the plate to the account?

Just add the plate to your EZpass account. No transponder for the trailer.
