Source for Harnesses

Can anyone recommend a good source for 6 point harnesses at a very competitive price? It should go without saying, but of course I don't want to compromise on quality and safety for the sake of saving a few bucks.

There are plenty of internet retailers that offer harnesses. A little comparison shopping might turn up a bargain or two on belts that are dated last year. I would stick to the well known brands and an FIA certified model. IMO, the installation is as important as the harness itself. I recommend having a qualified shop do the install; e.g. no bolts through the floor pan.

Don't know what your timing or specific requirements are, but I am swapping out one of my Schroth 5 point harnesses as we speak. They are a 3 inch wide belt. They're dated 2012 so they are good for another 5 years of DE use. I'm installing a new set (purchased from Stable Energies) with a hybrid shoulder belt to better fit across my Hans device. Larry -- I am quite confident you could find harnesses that meet all your needs at Hershey this weekend. NIB and one year old for half price is often possible.

I appreciate the suggestions, and the offer (Chris) of a one year old set, which I might have been interested in except I should have mentioned that I am looking for harnesses that are more compatible with my HANS. (And I do have a strong preference for 6 point, rather than 5.)

These are not cheap but they make great harnesses and address the hans as well. Check out http://www.teamtechmotorsports.com/. I use their Rampack harness and think there is nothing else as well designed.

Lou, Very helpful. Took a quick look at the G-Force harnesses listed, and I didn't notice any of them being specifically designed for use with a HANS device. Also, I wonder whether, if I purchased the camlock G-Force for me and the latch & link for the passenger, it would be regarded as complying with the following rules requirement: "Restraints and seating must be equal and similar for both the student/driver and instructor/passenger." I read those rules and my interpretation is that both restraints are equal! The only difference that I recognize is the ease of putting it on, and being in White, I would usually be alone for 11 out of 12 sessions (except the 1 Blitz session where the instructors jump in, and I'm not going anywhere till he's fully buckled and adjusted). Each one is SFI 16.1 certified, have the same width straps, are fastened the same, and really release with the same ease. In fact, the L&L is preferred, and or required by some racing sanctioned events like dirt tracks because there is less chance of the release jamming from dirt, which could seize up the camlock. What about 2 different type seats, the driver with head bolsters, and the passenger without?

Now, I have a question, if the passenger has a HANS, and I don't (and my belts are not, nor do they have to be HANS compatible) are we equal? Of course, I would never deny an instructor the use of his Hans if he rode along, or drove my car with me in the passenger seat.

Tech....what's the call?

Lou, I'm inclined to agree -- but, heck, what do I know? -- with you about the setup we're discussing being rules compliant, because they both meet the same SFI standard. I don't know if you're joking about the possibility of an instructor/passenger wearing a HANS when the driver didn't have one. I'm guessing that the point of the rule is that the instructor/passenger not have something inferior to the student/driver (and, technically, a HANS device might not count as a "restraint" mentioned in the rule -- but, again, I certainly could be wrong about that).
