How about running it in the opposite direction one day?

Chris,

I asked, at the last couple of events there (at the drivers meeting), for a show of hands if we should switch directions the second day... To my surprise only a couple of people raised their hands so we left it the same direction.

FWIW, I think the other direction is more fun, but it does present a few issues. Not the least of which is your car being launched into the air coming out of the bowl.

Now... Summit Point the other direction?????

I'll bring extra hands this time at Shenandoah. Last year I think everyone was just barely gettig comfortable with the track, but maybe this year for a day, or evena session, we can try the opposite way 'round. I know the track was designed for that, unlike the big track, but I cannot quite envision driving it that way.

MID OHIO, AND BEVERUN WOULD BE NICE TOO.

We had two events at the Glen for a couple of years but the later event was not that heavily subscribed. It had to do with being late in the year (read very cold) but that was all that was available to us. It would be great if we could hand pick our dates from all of the tracks within a days drive, but that ain't the way it works.

Once the track in NJ gets up and running (assuming we get dates) it will make things that much harder as we currently run an event a month. Adding a few more events will tighten up the schedule and will start putting extra burden on our volunteers.

Of course we can always elect to drop an event to make room, but which one????

I think the low number of votes has to do with most people voting that they will run all the RTR tracks and that is not an option on the pole.  I find every track has challenges to conquer and the faster you get the more challenging they become because speed requires precision and consistency.  I try to add one new track to my experience list each year but they are starting to get really far away since I have done most of the one day drives. But even at JC and Pocono I grow every time I drive one of them.  Seat time to work on advanced driving techniques is valuable where ever you can find it.

I was one of the folks that did not raise my hand when Mike asked if we wanted to drive Shenandoah the other direction even though I thought it was a ton of fun when we ran it clockwise.  I feel there are more difficult issues to deal with from an instruction standpoint and the lack of run off room is more of a concern in a couple of spots.

I would definitely resist turning it around during an event.  While that would be great for the more advanced folks, I think it would be very tough on the newer students and their instructors.  Shenandoah is hard enough to master for these folks, let alone switching directions on them!

I think one opportunity to run a track "backwards" would be the advanced day at Pocono north coming up in May.  I have a lot of fun on the North course counter clockwise.

Yes and the barrier at the entrance off the bowl liked that config too. NO longer so white, especially in the rain. Confusedhock:

Brian - you and I have talked about this before. I also liked the North course CC and as Bob stated, you must respect the entrance to the infield.
