Tony, the bummer is Tom is around 2:10.  I hope getting the suspension tuned will get me a sec, but he still has 30hp+ and 300lb less weight than me (maybe he is just faster too!).   I am sure once your monster is tuned, you will be down there too.

P.S.  There are alot of cars in black running well below 2:20's as you know.

Would you say when Todd is in his Probe he is the slowest in Red?   Are Bob and Tom in the bottom 1/2 of the Red run group?  Big Grin

Loaded questions I know.  I am really just kidding and am chuckling to myself while I am typing.  By my stopwatch the answers are no and no.

I am very aware that many in Red and some in Black are way, way faster.  I was trying to give an idea of pace. Those guys are going pretty quick for what they're racing and staying pretty close to each other while they are doing it.  Wasn't trying to say that we're slow.  lol!

I'm quite sure I would not be running a 2:21 in a probe GT. Those guys are pretty fast and very good drivers.

Todd is a great driver and I enjoy running with him.  His probe is pretty tricked out and I believe he had to run streets because of his mods  VS the competition.  I like the way NASA attempts to level the field.

I think it was reasonable of Tony to respond considering alot of drivers have no idea how relevant the comment about lap times/ ability was to the Red/Black group drivers in RTR.

As far as HP/Weight ratio.  I am sitting at almost 11bs/hp in a D stock 993.  The upper field in Nasa has some cars similar if not a little better HP ratio.  Full course VIR favors the 911 as does the Glen.  I ran 2:12s with a brand new setup. no prior driving/tuning, and on old R tires sitting over the winter.  I think a 2:10 would be my best effort with expert tuning/instructing.  I believe most of the Red group would equal and exceed these times.

This was from qualifying from the last race on record at VIR by PCA in 05'. Based on the best times which were in the high 1:50's, which is really rolling, my guess is that it was probably dry although it could possibly still have been unfavorable. I would guess everyone of these drivers listed below is definitely in Black and probably in the Red run group. So like I said based on the info I could find and what I have timed myself at other tracks the guys in their Probes, Sentra's and NX's are just as fast as the bottom 1/2 to 1/3 unless I am missing something or it was conditions related. This was the only PCA timed event info I could find for VIR. Doesn't look like there was a race in O6'.

Boy, your dangerous.... Next question. Did you know the track conditions last year?   I do...  Rain, Rain Rain, several RED flags full course no go's.  They barely completed that race.

Hey,  I am faster than the Rolex drivers according to two years ago.   I would have taken  first place in GT and Prototypes.  They were barely running 2:23's and 2:28's.   Oh damn, so it RAINED then also, but still.....................Wink

These are not "little cars" and they are not Nissan NX's or Ford Probes and all those times would be slower then the red group and half of the black group. Just MHO. Big Grin

I've raced with Todd - he's an incredible driver.  I got an e-mail from him about this race.  He said that was all the speed he had - he was driving at 10.1 10ths Smile

Put him in equipment equal to ours and I dare say he'd smoke most, if not all, of us!  He's fantastic at maintaining momentum thru corners.  Comes from years of driving/racing relatively low horsepower cars.

agreed.

he had the honda at sp last year and i "tried" to learn from him by watching what he was doing. that's what separates us from most of the mammals, the ability to learn.

personal coaching avail. ?

You can check me if you want to but you're right I don't know the conditions.  Those guys run in the Stinger/Fighter race groups at NASA.

Wasn't trying to be argumentative.  Sorry if it seems that way.  I know that if those guys ran  in the RTR Red run group their pace would be fine and they wouldn't be in the way all that much.  It looks like they had lot's of fun racing out there.
