Sold my '71 911 RS replica this past Summer and bought a '95 993 C4 which I'm going to daily-drive year round.

Any local 993 owners? I'd love to have some local people with whom to compare notes and symptoms. Check in here...

Welcome to the 993 ranks!  There are quite a few of us 993'ers in the club.

I have a '95.  It started it's life as a perfectly good street car but has been transformed to a wonderful track machine over the past few years.

I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have.

My first question would be what local shops are best equipped to service a 993?

Have to have a Bosch Hammer (I'm OBD1).

Have to have the kinematic toe gauge.

I have a general purpose mechanic, but finding a guy with a Hammer is pretty important.

Several of us use Dougherty's Automotive in West Chester.

I've been completely satisfied with the quality of their work and would highly recommend them.  Tell Bill or Ryan that Jack sent ya Smile

My one experience with Dougherty was when they charged me $960(!) to corner balance and align my old 911. I think they put the kid who sweeps up on it and just let him play with torsion bars all day on the clock. Big Grin

But if they have a Hammer and no one else does...

I've heard there's a Porsche shop in Malvern, but I don't know much about them.

The shop in Malvern is Performance Automotive.  Owned by two guys that used to work for Dougherty's years ago.  Very reputable but like Dougherty's that experience is not cheap.

As Brian and Jack stated, both shops are very good and have worked on many 993's for track and street. I have used Dougherty's for years and have been happy with the work. My 993, likes Jack's, is now a track beast and the car is wonderful. I have 60k miles total and 16k miles on the track. P-cars are amazing machines. Enjoy.

I'm a local 993 also and just joined the PCA early this summer.

Jon and Tony, I have seen you guys post on rennlist.

I have had good luck with Performance helping me get set up with a part street part track car.  I think I just broke the tip off the iceburg however!

Just acquired a beautiful 1996 993tt, Guards Red over Cashmere. I am the third owner. 28,000 original miles. Pix to follow, she is nearly mint.
My daily driver is a 2012 C2GTS, so this one will be my garage queen. I purchased her, as I have my GTS, my previously owned 2008 C2S coupe, and 3 Audis, from Porsche/Audi Conshohocken (aka Don Rosen imports).
She is mostly stock but has Fabspeed "stock sound" custom exhaust and ECU upgrade, reportedly making ca. 470bhp on the dyno. She is a rocket.
I plan to continue having her serviced at PoC, where I have good relationships and trust both Mike Pelberg as service advisor and Ralph, his head tech.
As others have said, wrt quality work, you don't get something for nothing.
Happy to trade ideas with other p-car fans, whether air or water heads.

Count me in as a past Audi S4 owner. It was silver too, LOL! Welcome to the 993 club.
