Removing the tires after 50,000 track miles I noticed the rotor looked worn.  What do you think.  LOL!

Yep... Bob, looks like you got your money's worth out of that rotor.

George...I hate to say it but you got cheated.

Seems you can't find a quality 100K mile rotor anymore.  Cheap crap!:X

I think that the first rotor was the proto-type for the slotted rotor.  It appears to have a very high coefficient of friction but pad wear could be problematic.

Will need to replace all four brake rotor shortly on my 2003 996 C4S.  Have only used Porsche OEM rotors until now. Wanted your opinion on staying with the Porsche cross drilled rotors or trying any of the other manufacturers slotted rotors.

After replacing two sets of OEM rotors due to cracks reaching the edge, I tried a set of BDA slotted rotors.  After 13 tracks days I have no cracks.  Its harder to find a slotted rotor for the rear as in incorporates the the drum for the E brake however Sebro, an OEM manufacturer is beginning to offer these.

Most of the track guys are getting much better life out of slotted rotors. There is little if any trade off in performance.

I have 141000 miles on my VW Golf rotors, still OEM from new and finishing my 2nd set of pads.  On my 911, I changed my front rotors in June after they have been on the car since 2003, yes, 2003.  They are not original Porsche, brembo or whatever.  They are cheap slotted rotors from Coleman, $500.00 a pair.  The rears are still on from 2003 and they are the usual drilled, Zimmerman rotors.   I use Porterfield race pads on the 911, year round and high performance street pads on my street cars.  These pads are very rotor friendly, but more important, is the way one drives.  Use the brakes as little as you have to and less if you really wana go fast.  BRAKES are over rated anyway!Big Grin
