944 shifter problem follow-up

It wasn't the hydraulics as thought by one service provider or the rubber center hub as thought by the second (the car had the newer steel center hub anyway)

There were approx 1 inch chucks of lining torn off the clutch plate at the same position on both sides of the disk, but at only one spot.  Also one of the radius arms of the disk was snapped and protruding approx 1/4 inch upwards.  I used the same shop that had diagnosed the rubber hub as the culprit, they were certain it was the problem.  Weird.  After replacing the existing clutch with a Sachs upgrade kit, it's as good as ever.

I tried to attach pictures but couldn't get them under 500k so the attachments wouldn't work.  If anyone would like to see the destruction I'd be glad to send under separate cover.

Glad you found it.  From your symptoms I was certain that it was not a transmission problem.
