Looks like the p-car was exactly behind it.  The bus driver probably couldn't see it any of the mirrors, especially with the top down.

The exhaust  pipe of the bus even takes out the radiator.

That same thing happened to me a few years back with a container truck.  I was behind him, and at a stop sign, the truck decided to back up without seeing me.  The truck went back so far that the bottom edge of the cotainer was in my face with the shattered windshield on my chest and lap.  The car was totaled on the account that the crowl was crushed down with the dash.
