This post is a bit late due to family stuff but I wanted to post some information about Touring Joara. My name is Scott Coley and I am the tour coordinator, a member of the board of directors of Exploring Joara Foundation.

The first Touring Joara was a wonderful success with great cars, fun roads, neat people, and beautiful weather. I hung out from 8:30am till 2:00pm up at Christa Store which was one of the 5 stops on the tour. I handed out cards for the poker run and had wonderful conversation about car stuff. It was great to see the numerous kinds of car’s rolling off of Hwy 181 and filling up the parking lot at Christa’s. The cars on the tour were varied from Morgan’s, MG’s, Fiat’s, Porches, BMW’s, Jaguars, Volvo’s, Mini Coopers, Smart Car’s, Mercedes, Austin Martin’s, an Aston Martin, Triumphs, Classic Mustangs, Corvettes, a few kinds of car’s I cannot think of and 28 Ferraris.  I came down the mountain at 2:00 and saw a blue BMW Z4 crashed on the side of the road; and I hope he was not trying to keep up with one of our Touring cars!!!

At the end of the tour we had great music, neat car’s, the poker run prizes winners, and a quick parade to downtown Morganton. The prizes were worth over $3,000 and varied from a GPS system to the 10[suP]th[/suP] place stick on hood vent’s for your “sports car? look. I am including a few photos from the tour and my favorite is the black Ferrari under the monster truck. If you participated in the tour thanks for coming and if you did not plan on it for next October it will be fun!  Touring Joara was a great success and a fun event!!
