For those of you who are looking to get a new helmet soon, be aware that I just came across this new NJMP requirement.

NJMP Director of Motorsports: "Helmets: All Helmets must be closed face. We will be enforcing this rule in 2011. “M? rated helmets ARE acceptable for DE events. “SA? rated helmets are required for all Racing and Race Practice (basically any time race suits and fire protection are required). 2000, 2005, and 2010 helmets will be accepted throughout the 2011 season."

Please choose your new helmet wisely and also note that although Riesentoter does not require an SA (special applications a.k.a. fire retardant) helmet for DE track use, it probably makes the most sense in case you want to run with other clubs/regions who may have that as a requirement also.

Marty -

When they say "closed face" , I take they mean with a chinbar. Or are they going to require a visor ? I think the NJ state rules required a visor, but it's been a while since I looked at them.

Their official statement only refers to the helmet to be closed faced and states nothing regarding the visor. That's all I can tell you.

Direct from Joe Volpe at NJMP.  ALL helmets must be fully enclosed that is to say it must have a chin bar.

Wally, I got a great video of you spinning at turn 1 at WGI, one car ahead of me. Can someone teach me how to put it on the forum?
