The rumours of a GT4 (Cayman with 385-400 HP), possibly to homologate a FIA GT4 race car, have become a virtual certainty. See HERE and HERE.

Last May I put a deposit down on a GT4 (#2 of 4 at the moment at POML). Today I put a deposit down on a still rumoured GT4RS (#2 of 2 at the moment at POML).

Time will tell!

I've always held the opinion that Porsche was looking at things all wrong by keeping the 911 at the top of the product line.

IMO they should be capitalizing on the marque's engineering prowess and race lineage to offer the best of BOTH rear-engine sports cars and mid-engine sports cars. Let the customer determine what kind of car they prefer to race.

Nice to see they took my advice, or maybe they finally admitted to themselves what an incredible platform they created with the Cayman.

Lots of conflicting rumours: 3.6 or 3.8 or altogether new motor; PDK or just manual; 360, 380 or 400 HP; same suspension or seriously tweaked; etc.

High hopes!

Rumors to be confirmed coming by another Forum:

"3.8 385hp parts bin motor basically from the Carrera S. I asked power kit 3.8 he said yes. I said why only 385 ad not 430 and he smiled and said diff intake on Cayman. I told him motor shouldn't be 45 hp off for the Cayman intake. to which he replied it isn't, 385 is the marketing number. Manual only. Bespoke suspension. 2850 weight goal. All motorsport derived suspension and brakes. He told me analogue and very very fun. I asked 2-3 high ups and they all confirmed these specs. It is not a bespoke engine but a car which will focus on handling and fun!!"

Sounds like we have about a month to wait for the official unveil at the Geneva Auto Show... Hopefully we'll get the inside scoop at Tech Tactics East!
