A little something for my fellow '44 brethren. See photo number 4 in this article about Cuban car culture. How did a Turbo ever get to Cuba? Looks like it has a V8 of some sort in it now. No surprise given how hard parts are to obtain there. Porsche parts must have there own extra special rarity.

It may not actually be a Porsche. I remember reading a story about a journalist who found a 911 in Havana. However, it wasn't a real 911. The owner was a fabricator and was building the car from scratch but going only by pictures he could find. Careful scrutiny showed that some of the angles and other parameters were slightly off, but heck, it would surely get your attention. In contrast, there are 6 or 7 authentic Porsche 356s on the island. Search the web and you will find videos of them driving around Havana and El Malecon (the oceanside road, which makes for a great strip to cruise with the top down on a nice evening- been there to experience it firsthand). There is also an official Porsche-recognized club in Cuba, with its own logo (I sport the shield on my own 911 cab). However, they cannot officially meet because the Cuban government has banned the club!
