The 2013 Porsche Parade in Traverse City Michigan has come and gone but I’m sure the memories will last a lifetime. Another thing that will last a lifetime is the recognition by our illustrious Porsche Club of America through their national awards. So let me get straight to the point. Awards are given to the best websites in each class of region size (I-V), with the overall trophy going to the best website in all of PCA. There were first through third place winners in each class. Riesentöter resides in class V but the first place winner of this class went to the Upper Canada region followed by Maverick and San Diego. Riesentöter wasn't even in the top five. And here I thought we did one helluva job bringing you the most up-to-date information in a clean and concise format that looks equally as good on a desktop as well as a tablet or smartphone.
Turns out we did.
The Riesentöter Region took home the overall trophy for best website design in all of PCA - so hard work really pays off. I want to personally thank the entire JKL website team which includes Larry Zappaterrini, Kevin Peters, and myself – Jeffrey Walton. We scored 272 points out of 300 and look forward to even stiffer completion next year.
Our region also had a good showing in other competition at the 2013 Porsche Parade. Bill Cooper took 4th in the Hagerty Technical and Historical Quiz for Mid 911/930 1978-1989. Karl and Tammy Grabner and Peter and Colin Schwartz each scored 23 points in the Gimmick Rally Series. Thomas Dockery and Michele Graeff took 4th place for their 2005 Boxster in the Preparation Group for Boxsters 2004-2013, while Glen Hunsicker came away with 2nd in the Restoration group for his 2002 Boxster as well as 6th for his 1979 924. Bill and Debbie Cooper walked away with 2nd in the Performance group for their classic 1956 356A.
Zone 2 also had a nice showing taking 2 of the top 3 National awards. For the second year Zone 2 has the 'Region of the Year' last year First Settlers, this year Potomac. This year they also have the 'Enthusiast of the Year' Shenandoah Region's President Sherrie Westfall!
Congrats to all!
