I can't believe August has come and gone. We finally are able to get out and be with others, take part in some activities, but 2020 has been a year that no one wants to repeat. The beginning of autumn is just up around the next bend, I plan to apex late and power through the corner. Hopefully the road ahead isn't closed.
Club activities are starting, Drivers Education and Autocross are in the midst of their new schedules. Our first, in-person club meeting takes place on August 30. I know I'll be there and I hope I get to see you as well. I have a few topics to cover in this post, so let's get to it.
These first few are for the track people. We have experienced quite a bit of rain this season and some other crazy weather (does two hurricanes sound familiar?) Well if you're registered for a track event and and expect a few showers you may want to readjust your car's setup for the wet weather.
While we are looking at the suspension, maybe you want to consider moving from the standard shock and spring setup that your Porsche was supplied with and possibly move into coil-overs for your next up grade.
Give me some adjustability in my ride.
If you are moving to coil-overs, there are a multitude of choices for your consideration and budget. This next article compares different setups based upon the cost of each setup.
Are you the type of club member that occasionally wants to track his car and doesn't want to spend a fortune for sticky tires that don't last very long if you are using the Porsche as a daily driver. Yokohama may have the answer to fit your tire needs. Please watch the attached video.
Porsche = Performance + Power. But all that is available at a cost. Depending upon your budget, you might consider a 911. The Carrera family or the GT3? Well if you want to save a little money but not sacrifice any of that performance, consider the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0.
I think that will be all for this installment, if you have anything you would like me to share, please contact one of the club officers or the Der Gasser editor and they will forward the information to me. Thanks and stay safe, this virus isn't finished with us yet!
