Usually helmets are approved for 10 years, wether you use it once a year or multiple times. My SA 2000 helmet had to be replaced last spring because the insides were falling apart and lets not talk about the many layers of dried up stinky sweat....... uhh!! My new helmet has removable insides that i can wash and or replace. The helmet will be good till the snell 2015 ones start shipping. 5 or so years with the amount of track and AX I do, will be plenty. Oh! and I also got a great helmet dryer and I recommend it to anyone who drives in hot days, NON air conditioned.
You would have to ask the particular track chairs wether they will accept the Snell 2000 helmets beyond next spring till the Snell 2010's come out.

Is there a shop in the Philadelphia area that actually stocks SA helmets? I'd like to try a few different ones.

Since I (and surely others) have a SA2000 helmet, do I need to replace it for the start of the 2010 season, or can we wait till the SA2010 helmets come out?

I just don't like the idea of spending $$ in the spring for something that is superceded by a newer rating 6 months later.

Lou,

The new helmets won't be out until the end of 2010 so the new helmets won't be required until 2011....
