Pay the $5 and check it out. I guarantee you'll be surprised at what you don't find.

I've only had three speeding tickets in my life. Two in NY (1985 and 2006) and one in Oregon, but that one was expunged as I did traffic school there.

For what it's worth, see if the NY thing shows up on your record or not.  I bet it isn't even there.

From everything I've read, it should not be there. PA only puts serious offenses from other states on its records. Just wait until you get out of PA to speed!

I don't know Chris, that ticket in NY was a serious offense.  It would have prevented you from making the track walk at the Glen, and that would have been a problem - for you.

All kidding aside, I agree with Marty.  Generally, just pay the ticket and it never hits your record.  It also doesn't hurt to know what may be there.  However, if you were assessed points, you would have been notified.

Moral of the story, VALENTINE ONE - never leave home without it.  (or leave it turned on and plugged in for a few weeks)  [Image: nono.gif]

I just got off the phone with a lawyer in Jacksonville who set me an "advertisement"  to provide legal representation for my citation  in  Fernandina  Beach.   Apparently he has access to records showing who has received ticket in the last couple of weeks and send out a letter outlining his services.  He claims to have personally handled over 10,000 traffic citations in the Jacksonville area.  His charge is $99 which he will refund if you get points on your license...   The system sure works differently in Florida.  I cannot imagine a Philly lawyer representing anyone in court for $99 with a garantee.  No offense to you guys who are lawyers but...  Stay tuned for futher information

How much of the $99 does someone else in the system get for giving the lawyer your ticket info. Wink

I hear NY is though about speeding, especially for major offenses.

A non-resident college friend of mine, worked for his embassy and legitimately had diplomatic plates from '99-'06.    In 2003, while rushing back to DC on an ambitious weekend ski trip to VT, he was almost arrested in NY for doing >30mph over the interstate speed limit.

This was not unusual for him as I was during a similar instance in CO.  Usually, he would show his ID, the cops would check into the law, and he would be on his way again.   The CO officer truly hated this the time I was with him.

However the NY cop attempted to arrest him until the Secretary General's office contacted the dispatcher to advise them that he could not be detained.   He racked up several tickets, during his time here but had to actually pay NY ticket 3 years later.   They somehow threatened or actually did hold up the export of his A6 home to Czech.

I believe that NY state filed some sort of lien against either the car or the diplomatic tags.   He told me that it cost him >$500 in the end.

Impressive how many cops have no clue about the law.... diplomatic plates mean that he cannot be touched... can't get much clearer.

Oh well. Could have been fun to own those plates. Smile
