Good for you. I'd still suck @ b-ball.

Quote:Maybe they have 6 runs, so 306 seconds of fun for 9 hours of work. Thats a work/fun ratio of about .009.

Valid point.

It's OK Nick to enjoy AX and stand by your feelings but I'm afraid I disagree with your interpretation completely.

Maybe it is boaring to you. there is lots more to AX than meets your eyes. It takes great skill and foresight to get the fastest lap cold, without practice laps for a whole day in advance, although I enjoy time trials. I also think that Pocono North is boaring, but the East course and shenandoah I probably like for the fact that they are both more like large AX courses. That is the driving part of the sport.

As to the enjoyment, it comes from the close competition of many entrants, and finishing places are measured in 1/1000th of a second. there is an AX every weekend between April and November, they are accessible, affordable to most and competition level is very high. the track guys are just NOW getting warmed up for the season, while I have 6 knotches on my headboard, between track and AX since March.

JUST CALL NICK

Hey,  Nick some of us have been seeing the track since Jan:  Sebring, Road Atlanta, VIR, Summit.  I don't carve notches in my bedboard, but do see tracks as soon as the new year hits.  Smile  The other club events from club racing, NASA, Mazda, other regions are almost year round.

I don't think anyone said autocross is easy.  In fact, the skills for autocross apply directly to road racing and are essential.  Most road racers start with autocross/ karting then to some form of "DE" and finally road racing via clubs or organizations.  I do not know anyone to go from road racing to focusing solely on autocross.  The progression is logical, but not absolute.   The response was more to the statement that autocross is harder than a road course.  If you approach both at an elevated level, then I like Darren's analogy to best describe the intensity level difference.

Sorry for goading.  I couldn't resist.  I've watched Nick at autocross and he sure makes it look easy!

Me, I'm still a newb at both Autocross and DE.  Looking forward to doing more of both this year.

Agreed, Nick is very good and smooth.  I can't ever seem to resist the temptation to start sliding around turns.  I'll probably do a couple of SCCA events this year, I think my Acura would be in DSP so it should be fairly competitive.  Most of the courses are very bumpy though, and my track-sized springs hop me all over the place.

Rule #1, make a safe Course.
Rule #2, in a spin 2 feet in, not 1, 2, cause if you use 2, chances are 1 will be on the brake!
