Drifting does have some stigma. Look at it this way though -- a few years back there was a huge FWD drag racing scene. That basically turned into a drifting scene, and more recently a time trial scene. That's what you'll hear about this year is Time Trials, and the coolest thing about that from my point of view is prize money
Many of these kids that have been brought into more organized track events were previously street racing. And not just drag racing -- I know this one crazy guy that would race 50-100 miles on public highways against other guys Cannonball Run style! Nuts!
