DE guys = Serious need for high rate of speed but too scared to make passes in the corners that might scratch their paint jobs. A schizophrenic group: Sometimes committing car to the track/sometimes afraid to bastardize a perfectly fine car for the sake of higher speed. Looks down on time trialers as though they are posers.

In Darren's case this means a complete engine laying on the kitchen table. Never mind the two cars in the back yard!!

Kevin TT is actually a great transition into racing. NASA runs a great TT program that provides open passing in the corners without a point-by. There are some fast TT guys running near 2mins flat at full course VIR.

Racing just adds more variables and a lot more traffic; At VIR a DE will run a max of around 35 cars on the track where a race may have over 70. You don't slow down for yellows, but you cannot pass. In most cases you find the problem area and drive as fast as you can everywhere else.
