Jim,

It is critical that the Allen or hex key is all the way in the bolt before trying to break it loose. I always use a hammer to drive the socket in before putting any torque on it. Use brake parts cleaner to get all debris out of the hole before hammering the socket in. Heat sounds like a good idea, but it will be hard to get things hot enough without melting the boot.

Once rounded out, vice grips are your friend.
