You guys are right. Many times there was a car in front of me that I was trying to keep pace with where I was stronger through that section of the track I found that I was focusing more on where I wanted my car to go as opposed to looking directly in front of me. Tony you're also right about visualization, and if you really focus at it, you can even feel the bumps in the track. Awesome technique.
I can see how looking farther ahead will trick the eyes and slow things down per say. It's easy to get caught up in the moment especially when you're in deeper than you have been before and you're unsure how to handle it. You know that you have had excellent training, you've invested time in yourself to train in other ways off track (books, dvd's, simulator, etc...) and now the moment of truth is there. Step up or sit down. It's a little scary on your first go around but you keep plugging away at it because that's what you do. As much as I'm looking forward to next season, I'm really looking forward to this offseason because it will give me a whole winter to prepare for the spring.
