My son hasn't liked my black manual antenna for about 3 years and has been hounding me to replace it.  So two months ago I bought a Hirschman.  I found out why I hadn't been so eager to change it when my hands didn't fit in the jamb.  Yes, you will have to remove the door.  It is simple but the door is HEAVY.  Mark the hinge placement and account for any shims behind the hinge on the door post.  If you have any electrics going to the door, that creates another situation.  Support and wedge the door from underneath and only move it as much as you have to.  You will scrape up the paint on the door bolts so you might want to have some touch up paint on hand.  Klein's on Sumner Street can probably mix some Dupont Centari for about $40 a quart.  Good luck!
