WOW, that brings back memory's.
Here's the deal on changing the fluid in your gearbox:
Put the car up on stands and remove the left side rear wheel.
Drink a beer.
Remove the top (fill) plug first. No need to dump the old fluid if you can't get new fluid back in.
Drink a beer.
Remove the drain plug.
Drink a few beers and/or surf the web while the old stuff drains.
After all the old stuff is out put the drain plug back in. With the rear wheel off you will notice you have line of sight from outside the car to the fill plug. Use a funnel and a couple of feet of tubing and pour in the new stuff. If you have not already purchased the new oil, Swepco is wonderful stuff in our cars.
You will need to add oil until it starts to run out the fill hole. Once that happens put the plug back in and clean up any oil that ran down the side of the case or dropped onto the ground.
Drink a beer.
Put the rear tire back on and put the car back onto the ground.
Drink the rest of the beer.....
