Terry, I assume that when you say you "did it that way" you mean with a roof rack, rather than with a trailer. I did speak to Don at Summit and sketched out the configuration of his rack there. In addition, Nick was very helpful, describing how he uses a roof rack to carry wheels vertically (and he also said he might be able to send me pictures).
There are some distinct advantages (though, concededly, not without some minor disadvantages) to the mini trailer, such as no significant work involved each time I want to use it. But what really strikes me as particularly attractive is that although I have to study the trailer more closely, it looks as if I could use it to carry more than just four track tires. As you know, David and I both share the 993, and that state of affairs is likely to continue indefinitely. (Chances are, even with his limited availability for DE events, due to school, he'll be in white before I'm in blue, if that ever actually happens). And especially with the roll bar, which results in use of the rear "seat" space for any storage being severely limited, it's a real challenge for both of us to fit everything into the 993, even with our extraordinarily spartan packing (we're guys so how many changes of underwear do we really need? Oops - I guess that's TMI). If we used a roof rack, I'm beginning to think that we wouldn't have any space for the tools we'd need -- jack, posts, etc.
