Usually, run groups are only combined if the #'s of cars is safe. If the green student is that raw, the instructor should still be in the car - watching mirrors and providing the track vision and communicating info to the green driver.

Combined sessions can provide an enormous amout of benefit to the upper and the lower run group drivers. Everything is based on the level of maturity and respect for speed that the driver (and/or instructor) has for the track.
