The EMRA event went well. I taught beginner and intermediate classrooms on both Friday and Saturday. As a spectator event, a wide array of food and beverage was available in the paddock. There was also a wide array of cars with several cool open wheel and vintage race cars. The seam across the front straight was repaired and no longer unsettles your car. I spent a lot of time on my lap top in an attempt to fine tune my fuel delivery. Saturday afternoon we had time trials before the first race. Schattenbaum has the track next Monday and Tuesday. We plan to add additional options for passing. I’ll add an advanced classroom (white/black) featuring a turn by turn anatomy using a 7 turn track map.

The PCA Club Race is scheduled for 9/12-9/14 on the Lightning Course.  On the same weekend the Lightning 250 Mazda Formula Zoom Zoom Race will be held on Thunderbolt.

We just decided to add Advanced Driver's Education to the weekend.  Registration is limited to 40 drivers in the white run group and above.  We are looking at 5 DE run sessions each of the 3 days.  The sessions will be intermixed with the PCA races on Lightning.  This is a chance to see great races on both tracks and drive your car.

This event will book quickly.  Please don't ask if we have room before our Registrar has your check and application in hand.

Sounds like an awesome event and a good decision on Schattenbaum's part to add the DE to the race weekend.

Question (and sorry if it has been covered):

Why did they ditch the joined track configuration?  Even if they only ran a "Grand" course once in a while (for example, the Rolex guys today), it seems that it would be worth while.

The original track maps and descriptions always showed the tracks joined.  What happened.

Thanks,

John

My guess? Money.

The two tracks rent for more than one track would. Unlike VIR, NJMP is in a convenient location near many more drivers. Lots of demand.

Yes, of course...hence I said that the single configuration could be used in very rare cases, for example the Rolex race today.

Again, run them as 2 99% of the time (unless groups want to spring for the cost of both)...

But why give up the option in order to bring in bigger races?

I wonder if the truck/rv route is the quicker way in for all vehicles?
