Brian, I agree. Mid-Ohio is THE BEST TRACK I HAVE BEEN ON! It is very technical, fast and has fun fast turns like "Madness" where you get air. The elevantion changes make it challenging and visibility is quite good with few blind corners. It also offers more run off areas for hunting expeditions instead of blue walls.

The drive on 80 is so much more relaxed (you get to use cruise control) than going through Baltimore and Washington and other limited access highways to VIR.

Agreed -- it has a rhythm to it like all good tracks, and the back section from the main straight to the carousel is so challenging -- if you get off line, difficult to get back on. I know it's heresy but so much more fun than the Glen I think, where its like straight, turn, straight, turn, with the exception of the esses of course.

Yeah anyone who is complaining about the drive I could almost guarantee they took the turnpike. I've done that trailering and there are some miserable hills (mountains) where my Tahoe (before I had a real tow vehicle) would only go about 35 mph at full throttle. The lanes are narrow, there are long up and downhill sections. The downhill decreasing radius turns with trucks to your side are the WORST while trailering. If you start swaying, what do you do? Brake? Go even faster?? Esp when the winds whip through the mountains.

What is the speed limit on 80 Geza? 70??? You can fly across the state on 80 and not usually that much traffic.

I took 80 last October and hit 2 bridges under construction (down to one lane) and sat in long backups so this time I took the Turnpike and it was smooth sailing with little traffic and certainly faster.  With a real tow vehicle trailer sway is not an issue and I can pull along at 75 or 80 all the way including climbing the mountains.  80 has its share of long climbs as well.

The count was 0 although a ground hog was sighted walking parralel to the track.

I'm glad that your car wasn't "drawn" to it.  Or was it because your reputation preceeded you to MO and the wildlife was cautious?

Either way, we're all glad that you made it home safely.  How did Jim K do there?

He had his arm out a lot but he had a good instructor and got the basic line down and was able to solo. I hear he will have a new ride soon.

I am surprised the pheromone's of your car didn't attract it.  And yes Jim's new ride is looking good.   Seriously get some deer whistles.
