During 1971, membership nearly doubled, due to the efforts of Wayne Flegler as activities chairman. In this same year, the first driver's school (one day event) was held at Pocono International Raceway, with nearly 100 cars attending in spite of the rain.

A: Freezing locks can be a problem with any car, but to minimize the freezing, use graphite as a lubricant in the locks and hinges - this dry lube will not stick when cold.

The nickname Riesentöter, which loosely translated means "Giant Killer", was adopted by the regional membership, as was the checkered flag and Speedster insignia. The official change to Riesentöter came in 1974

A new point system is put in place for the Riesentöter Award:

•   5 Points - Attend a monthly meeting
•   5 Points - Attend a Riesentöter event
•   5 Points - Participate in a Riesentöter event.
•   5 Points - Work at a Riesentöter event
• 15 Points - Chair an event.
• 40 Points - Attend the parade
• 25 Points - Attend a multi-regional event.
• 10 Points - Write an article for Der Gasser or Pano

There's no tie in baseball but apparently there is in softball as the 911/912 team scores 5 runs as so does the 356/914 team at the annual Riesentöter Picnic

Motion is granted to John Stalma of Scranton to start the formal paper work to create the Pocono Region - an offspring of RTR.

April 12, 1974 Eastern Pa. Region officially changes their name to Riesentöter (Giant Killer)

A highlight of 1974 was the guest speaker for the April meeting and only honorary member of Riesentöter - none other than Mark Donohue.

Riesentöter cohosted the Porsche Parade with Northern New Jersey Region at the Pocono Manor

We receive a windfall of $567 as our share of the profits for cohosting the parade the year before.

Ferry the puppy finds a new home in Kimberton after the meeting at Holbert's to introduce the new Porsche 924.

Linda Applestein's Picnic award winning Caribbean Fudge Pie recipe is featured in Der Gasser

• 1/4 cup butter
• 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
• 3 eggs
• 1 12oz. package semi-sweet chocolated (melted)
• 2 tsps. instant coffee powder
• 1 tsp. rum extract
• 1 /2 cup flour
• 1 cup coarsely broken walnuts
• 1 9-inch pie shell (unbaked)
• 1/2 cup walnut halves for decoration

Cream butter with sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add melted chocolate, coffee, and rum extract. Stir in flour and broken walnuts. Turn into pie shell. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool. Top with whipped cream and walnuts. Serves 8
