Driving Activities
RTR promotes a wide array of opportunities for members to get out and drive their cars. See below for a summary of driving activities with RTR:
- Driver's Education: These events provide members with the opportunity to develop their driving skills by taking their cars to some premier race tracks with the guidance and instruction of nationally or regionally trained PCA driving instructors.
- Autocross: This is a great way for members to enjoy the performance of their vehicles in a safe environment. Autocross events are typically held in large parking facilities with a course created out of a series of traffic cones.
- Rally: The objective of a rally is to follow a course, usually on public roads, to the precise specifications prepared by the Rally Master. These events can be competitive, but are typically for fun (and maybe bragging rights).
- Introduction to Driver's Education: This program is designed for people who don't really know if they want to participate in one of the HPDE events. They provide an opportunity to learn a bit about high speed driving by taking your car out for a few laps on a course with an instructor
- Club Racing: Wheel-to-wheel racing on premier race tracks just like you see on TV except that YOU are racing your Porsche against fellow PCA members. These nationally-sanctioned events allow members to use their driving skills honed at Riesentöter Driver Education events or otherwise to race against other Porsches in a fun and generally polite club race.
Social Activities
As the PCA logo says "It's not just the cars, it's the people". We at RTR couldn't agree more. See below for some great ways for members to get together and socialize:
- Monthly Meetings: RTR hosts a monthly membership meeting at different areas across the region. All members are invited to come out, learn something unique, have some food & drinks, and socialize with other RTR members and their families.
- Informal Gatherings: The club organizes informal get-togethers for breakfast and happy hours across our region. Come out, bring your Porsche, and chat over a hot cup of coffee and some flapjacks or some apps and a beverage of your choice.
- Drive & Dine: How about taking a nice spirited drive in your Porsche and afterwards having food and cocktails with some RTR friends? That's the sole purpose of our Drive & Dine events.
- Concours: These are judged events that provide Porsche owners an opportunity to show their cars to others in the club.
Philanthropy
PCA members have an overwhelming desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by their generous donations or valuable time all for a good cause. Just some of the ways our members get involved:
- Phil-a-Trunk: is the annual Kick off event for WMMR Preston and Steve's Campout for Hunger for Philabundance. We pack our rides with nonperishable food items and trek down to Citizen Bank Park to unload food for those neighbors that need it most
- Street Survival: This program trains teen drivers in the skills that could save their lives on the road. Using a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations our members use the teen’s own car to teach car handling and control at the limits, but at parking lot speeds.
